The Norman B4, one of only two in Australia, was one of our most challenging resto’s in recent times. We were tasked with the job after another business had been unable to complete the rebuild so the bike came to us primarily in boxes having been disassembled by the previous workshop. This made our job a little harder in the beginning as their process was quite different to ours so we had our work cut out for us in getting the build back on track.

This bike was a very mild restoration, mainly concentrating on the serviceable items of the bike, tyres, chains, oils, battery. Once we had the bike running and back to a high standard we focused on the cosmetics of the bike.

This restoration was a second build for the customer, the first we completed in 1983 (Paul undertook that one – Joe was too young to be apart of that in the 80’s) which was an A65 BSA, very similar to this resto, but this is the competition version with the close ratio gearbox and high lift cam set, among other things.

The Taverner family has built and restored countless custom motorcycles in Brisbane over the last 50+ years of our trade. The love of motorcycles and connections they have given us to family and friends is hard to explain. This motorcycle, the mighty Suzuki A100, with its record-breaking 9.5Hp, is a true example of this passion being handed down from one generation to the next.
The bike originally belonged to our client’s father when he rode it as a commuter, but as the years went on and each of his three sons learned to ride, they each had a hand in riding and maintaining the little Suzuki A100. Throughout the years, the bike remained in the family and undoubtedly held more value to them than anyone realised.
